Pakistan's leg-spinner Usama Mir has been signed by Worcestershire County Club for the first phase of Vitality Blast, starting today.
The club announced the signing on Twitter. "Welcome to Worcestershire, Usama Mir," the club wrote.
In reply, Usama expressed excitement over playing for the team. "Alhamdulilah. Can’t wait to join," he responded.
Worcestershire will play their first match against Northamptonshire on May 24 in Northampton.
Usama, who was looking forward to going to England for playing cricket, got a call from Pakistan team for ODIs. He made his ODI debut against New Zealand in Karachi this year. He replaced injured Shadab Khan in the three-match series.
So far, Usama has played six ODIs, all against New Zealand. He bagged 10 wickets and bowled at an impressive economy of 5.29. After performing in ODIs, his name is also coming under consideration for the ICC World Cup in India, scheduled in October-November this year.
